Wright, for my first assignment at university I have been given the task of finding 3 objects with a good design (according to me, that is) and explain why I think they are worth mentioning in this TOP 3 post. PS (There will be a TOP 3 WEBSITES with good design post after this one. So bare with me and enjoy my writing.

Wide monitors

I love using my LG25um58 not just because it is a big monitor, but also because of the screen aspect ratio, which stands at 21:9 (standard monitors use 16:9). On the official LG page it is stated that The UltraWide 21:9 aspect ratio makes games and movies more immersive than ever. The clarity of 1080p pixel Full HD resolution with IPS is a game-changer. Simply put, from any viewing angle, everything looks more crisp and detailed in Full HD.
To be honest the uses of Ultrawide monitors is limitless, especially if you up for a better resolution one 2K or even 4k (I could only afford the basic FHD one 😀 ).

As you can clearly see, it is not just used for entertainment, I also use it for work. Browsing and editing files at the same time is easy and the wide of the monitor makes the illusion of using two separate monitors, where in reality it is just a single one.

Of course LG is not the only company to offer different wideview monitors. You can check out Samsung’s offering on wide and curved monitors, Acer, Dell and Asus

Big screen phones

There may be a trend with me and my choices 😀 😀 😀 :DThe second choice is my Samsung Galaxy S8+

Again it is the screen that attracted me to this phone. Standing at 6.2 it seems like a huge device, but thanks to the so called Infinity Display

(screen to body ratio is 84%) it is a wonderful piece of technology. The phone is basically just a screen, which also curves on both sides, with no front bezels and buttons and a resolution of 2960×1440 (2k). Samsung have outdone themselves with this phone. The design and the functionality that offers are spectacular. I can write an email, while browsing for relevant information to include in it.

The screen resolution makes viewing everything on the phone seem crisp and clear. Samsung have also included HDR support for brighter whites and darker blacks to make the videos look even better. The resolution also helps to use the device in a VR set (which was included with the phone, when I signed my contract. Talk about a deal!)
As much as I like Samsung, the other manufacturers in the mobile industry have outdone themselves as well. Check out Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium which is the world’s first phone with a 4K display (3840×2160). Imagine what the pictures and videos would look on that beast. Better yet, imagine what the VR experience would feel like, as I found that even 2k resolution feels a bit dull and can cause minor headaches.

Technology is clearly my thing. I am sooo happy of using my Oral-B Pro 650.

I started using electric toothbrushes 7-8 years ago and found out that they do better job at keeping my teeth cleaner. I really like the design, as they do not feel that different from a traditional toothbrush. You can choose the colour of your brush the same way you could with a normal one. Darker colours, lighter colours, it doesn’t matter, it is up to you to make it work for yourself.

The best feature i like is that you can choose different heads to use. With this particular brand you can choose between 6 different types of brush heads, ranging from normal, flossing, polishing, gum care, crossaction and whitening.
The different models differ in functions (the more expensive ones >£120 ) have a few different functions, like built-in bluetooth so that you can connect the brush to your smartphone and use their app to keep track of your mouth’s health. The RPM also differ (the more money you pay, the faster the toothbrush will rotate), but in the end the base function stays, keeping your mouth, tongue and teeth clean.

So, that’s it for my TOP 3 good design objects. Hope you liked my short explanations and are eager to see what’s ahead. Stay tuned for my next post on TOP 3 WEBSITES WITH A GOOD DESIGN
